The five Human Design types.
Yours is a calculation.
Every quiz that asks how you feel about mornings is guessing. Which of the five you are comes out of two facts about your bodygraph — whether your Sacral center is defined, and whether a motor center reaches your Throat — and both come from where the planets were at your birth.
What actually separates them.
Generator
Your Sacral center is defined, and no motor center connects through to your Throat. That first condition is what makes you a Generator; the second is the whole difference between you and a Manifesting Generator. Both are settled by the chart in a fraction of a second, and neither can be settled by a quiz.
Manifesting Generator
Your Sacral center is defined and a motor center connects through to your Throat. The Sacral gives you the renewing energy a Generator has; the motor-to-throat connection is what lets you start things rather than only build on them. Both conditions have to hold, and only your chart shows whether they do.
Projector
Your Sacral center is undefined, and no motor center connects through to your Throat. The undefined Sacral is why sustained output on someone else's schedule costs you more than it costs the people setting it. It is a structural fact about your chart, not a verdict about your capacity.
Manifestor
Your Sacral center is undefined, but a motor center connects through to your Throat. That connection is the engine behind starting things without waiting to be pulled into them; the undefined Sacral is why sustaining them at the same pitch is a different question from starting them.
Reflector
Not one of your nine centers is defined. That is the entire condition, and it is why our engine checks for it first. Nothing in your bodygraph is held constant by your own design, so what you experience is shaped unusually strongly by where you are and who is nearby.
Type is one answer of four.
Your authority decides how a decision actually gets made. Your profile decides how you meet the world. Your defined and undefined centers decide where you are consistent and where you take your colour from the room. Two people who share a type and differ on the other three have very little in common in practice — the type is the headline, not the article.
